An extraordinary day…and a message for those who resist positive change…

20 01 2009

If you can’t feel the energy and the sense of a dark cloud lifting, if only for a moment, then you are simply not an American with any sense of pride or humility.  Witness the hope of so many people who have turned out live in Washington or in Times Square or the local coffee shop, effectively shutting down almost everything to see this historic event.  It’s not just a President of color, a President of hope, or a President of chance; it’s a President of the people, by the people, and for the people.  Those of you who are not happy with this choice should realize that we, the people, do not accept the old way of doing things.  We are shelving greed, shelving the old guard, shelving anything that stands in the way of doing what is right.  Take note Congress, take note Wall Street, take note insurance companies, take note CEO’s, take note board of directors, take note Pharmaceutical companies, take note public school systems, take note local governments…we’re watching and we’re willing to take you all on.  You can’t hide your bad decisions anymore.  Google, Yahoo, Facebook, etc. all make it so you can’t keep doing things you know are wrong, just to pad your wallet, because we’ll find out and make sure everyone else knows what you did.  If you are privileged enough to be ‘in charge’, remember that your first responsibility each day is to ensure that what you do is in the best interests of those that work for you, their families, their lives, their well being.  It’s about doing the right thing and knowing that just because something might be good for you, if it harms others, then it’s not ok to do.  In my state, it’s a direct challenge to Senator(s) Feinstein and Boxer who often times let political BS  dictate their decisions rather than listening to their constituents.  As our new President speaks, he is saying the same thing that I’ve said above.  It is time to make the hard choices to move us all forward and that means sacrifice, especially from those who created this mess.   We’re holding you accountable, while already accepting our own responsibility in supporting this change.  Whatever your faith, or even if you choose no faith, feel blessed to live in this country where our Constitution has guided our base beliefs and protected your rights for over 200 years.

In health and in hope, NBPI

Here’s hoping for a new dawn in America…

20 01 2009

Yeah, I know, it’s better to stay away from politics in the public world.  Unfortunately, no matter which of the two major party’s you might lean towards, you would have to say that tomorrow at least offers a new possibility for the USA.  We know what we would get if offered another term (thankfully, limited out) and therefore, tomorrow offers something different.  We certainly don’t know if it will be better or worse.  Let’s think positive and go from there.  Regardless we should raise a toast to the outgoing President and offer another to the new.  None of us can really comprehend the difficulties and pressures of trying to oversee this country.  We know a better job can be done, but a lot of that is up to us to direct this change by doing and not talking about the necessary measures to create positive change.

To George:  ” Thank you for learning us what not to do…sometimes our best lessons are hard ones; I’m sure you understand what we mean.”

To Barack: ” We wish you luck, especially as you are being given the gift of following George…please don’t let us down.”

Now, as all toasts should be as part of the 21st century, let’s take out the tongue in cheek; remember LiverGARD everytime you imbibe, including this one.  To a new dawn in America!
