Liver health helping the body cope with colds and flu

10 09 2009

As we enter a cold and flu season that has many experts concerned, especially with the H1N1 (Swine) variety estimated to impact up to 120 million of us in the USA this year.   Viruses, whether the cold or influenza variety, are different than bacteria in how they replicate.  As they commandeer the protein system in a cell, more viruses are created and the residual effect of the ‘leaking’ of fluids, proteins, etc. from the infected cell must be metabolized.  The huge number of viruses infecting the cells in the body releases a toxic soup that ends up slowing down the metabolizing ability of the liver.  The result is headache, achy muscles, lethargy, or in other words – misery.   (This is similar to the effects of too much alcohol consumption or the alcohol hangover, in fact most of the ‘symptoms’ of the hangover mimic the flu. )  In most cases, the misery only lasts from 3 days to 2 weeks depending on the strength of your immune system.  This is where you can help yourself now.  Eating plenty of vegetables/fruits, getting plenty of rest, a decent amount of exercise, and frequent washing of hands should be the norm.  A supplement like LiverGARD can provide much of the daily antioxidant levels needed daily and keep the liver function top notch and when the inevitable strikes, your body will be in the best possible shape to quickly rid yourself of the viruses.

the smoke is gone but life is still a bit hazy

19 08 2009

It’s just another summer day here on the edge of the continent.  The smoke from the nearby fires has cleared a bit and now it’s only the fog that remains.   Too bad that fog affects my focus at times.  Oh well, that’s just my life.   Fortunately the kids are back in school and I can once again spend a few hours working peacefully towards building the company before chaos descends and I have to start up homework and prepare for whichever sport is being played today.

Branding a product that deals with liver health is a significant challenge.  It’s very hard for any of us to think about something that we absolutely take for granted and only impacts us when it isn’t working.   As a society we’ve worked really hard at raising awareness for the heart, the lungs, the kidneys, etc.  All of these organs are of obvious interest to our everyday lives yet the one organ that ensures that we can survive the daily assault on our bodies from the environment, the food we eat,  the fluids we drink, and the lifestyle we choose gets so little mention.  The liver is that important, yet it’s not the sexiest topic.   I get it!

Perhaps, though, I can help common sense break through and gain some of your attention in why it might be a good idea to pay closer attention to your liver.  Did you know:

- that the liver is the organ responsible for metabolizing all toxins that enter the body.

- significantly aids in the digestion process

- becomes sluggish under the duress of toxins such as acetaminophen, highly processed foods, cold/ flu virus, and alcohol

- is less efficient as we age

What does this mean??  It’s a pretty important organ and we pay too little attention.  Supporting liver health by always eating healthier, avoiding alcohol/tobacco, never eating fast foods, never getting sick, never going out,  or never taking an OTC or prescription drug is unlikely all of the time in our culture.  For most of us, our lives are fast paced and we don’t always make the right decisions for our health.  When we’re younger these decisions don’t impact us as much, but as we age we certainly feel the effects when we don’t take care of ourselves. That’s why I’ve learned that liver health is too important to blow off.   All of the typical advice like getting more rest, eating more fruits and vegetables, minimizing alcohol intake, no smoking, is very valid so where you can, make those changes too.  The most important change though is to consider adding a product called LiverGARD to your life.   This all natural supplement is ultra high in antioxidants ( 1650 ORAC units per serving ) and is only two easily recognizable ingredients (artichoke/sarsaparilla).   This makes LiverGARD ultra safe and the nutrition targets liver function and allows the liver to continue it’s natural process at high efficiency even under the duress of toxins.  I, by accident, discovered that it actually helped prevent my hangovers when I chose to drink which is what triggered me to study the raw material further.  If it works on an acute toxin like ethanol, just think how it can help your liver when eating at the local burger joint.

In my day to day world, I’m called coach.   That’s for sports related functions but I hope that you will see that I’m coaching you all in a different domain.  Your lifestyle is important to you, as mine is.  I hope you will see the value in doing what I do each day and that’s take LiverGARD.  It will make a difference for you and your family, and you get to keep the lifestyle you like.

All the best from Life on thEdge! and NBPI

Liver Health resources…

31 03 2009

Thanks for visiting today.  I had taken a few days off to clear my head.  Too much on my plate and too little time to get to it.  As much as I have strong assessments/opinions (which I sometimes provide via this vehicle ) what I want to remain focused on is my desire to make sure that relevant information can get to you regarding the liver.  Hepatic (liver) research is ongoing and both pharmaceutical and natural considerations are being utilized to increase liver wellness.   We’re searching daily and will update weekly, information that we find on liver related issues and provide those links here.   Here one from the AP via Yahoo News that discusses an experimental treatment for liver cancer:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090331/ap_on_he_me/med_healthbeat_liver_cancer;_ylt=AhUVpTp241TAuy0KkqOwGFzVJRIF

Here’s another that links surgery with general anesthesia for children under 4 and learning disabilities:

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=102306350&ft=1&f=1007&sc=YahooNews

What’s relevant about that is how the anesthesia is metabolized.  Body weight, development, etc. impact the livers capabilities.  It could be that liver support might help reduce the impact in the body of the anesthesia.  Obviously research in this area is warranted.

What is LiverGARD??

23 01 2009

That’s a good question.  I’m pretty good at letting people know what LiverGARD can do, but sometimes forget to tell you what it is and how it works so that you can feel comfortable in using it.

What is LiverGARD??  It is simply an extract of the floridanum variety of artichoke and mexican sarsaparilla.  As simple as that sounds, we’ve had several companies try, without success, to duplicate the process to achieve the results we have.  As we also work with the source, we manage to ensure that LiverGARD always matches our researched profile even if weather conditions create different growing situations.  So let’s repeat…artichoke and sarsaparilla.

Is LiverGARD safe??  As the resultant extract is a whole food complex, it is treated by the body as such.  We’ve had eight years direct experience selling to the public and we’ve had zero reports of any negative side effect.  All of us working for Natural Bridges have used LiverGARD daily for the last 8 years.  In my case, it’s been over 10.  Dr. Cochran has used it for over 20 years.  By law, we have to keep a negative events log.  There’s nothing in it…

How does LiverGARD work??   The extract contains a complex of active flavonoids including quercetin, kaempferol, isorhamnetin, catechin, silymarin, cynarin, and chlorogenic acid.  These plant chemicals focus their energy in the liver supporting the natural metabolization processes.  Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) for LiverGARD shows a powerful antioxidant at least twenty three times more effective than blueberries.   This nutrition and antioxidant effect leads to improved hepatic (liver) performance, especially under the duress of acute toxins like ethanol (alcohol), acetaminophen, or certain other pharmaceuticals.  It’s also why you don’t get hangovers if taken correctly.  If the body can process the ethanol more quickly, it cuts out the inflammatory response that usually occurs within a couple of drinks.  No headache, no nausea, or whatever your typical overindulgence response is.  For me, not having headache after a shared bottle of wine at dinner, or a six pack during the Super Bowl, or a couple of single malts while listening to the waves crash on the beach.  Not losing any part of the next day is even more rewarding.

In a nutshell, this is LiverGARD.   Feed your liver everyday.  www.livergard.com

It’s winter, it’s frigid, and I’m stuck indoors….

15 01 2009

Fortunately for me, that’s not the case, but it’s a fact for many of you throughout the country today.  I know my parents and sister are below zero in Indiana and many of my Facebook friends have the hatches battened down.   Fireplaces are stoked and heaters cranking just to keep pace with the frigid conditions.  What we don’t take into consideration is how the enclosed environment is actually impacting our bodies.  It’s worth researching for yourself to see how big this impact really is.  Here are some links that will lead you to some relevant information on this topic…http://www.lbl.gov/Education/ELSI/pollution-main.html ,               http://www.epa.gov/iaq/ia-intro.html and http://edition.cnn.com/video/ .  In the last link look at the cleaning indoor air piece.  The fact is that for most of us, we’re actually living and working in environments that end up taxing our liver quite extensively.  That’s where we come in.  LiverGARD helps support what our liver is doing anyway.  When the assault on the liver becomes too much it slows down.  That’s when your body needs the nutritional support of LiverGARD.  From dust, to mites, to molds and fungus, to processed foods, to smoke (second hand or not), what gets in our blood must be metabolized.  See for yourself what LiverGARD can do.  Visit us at www.livergard.com and pick up a bottle for yourself.  Sometimes we’re asked how do we really know it works??  Well, besides the actual research that has been conducted, I found out it prevented the alcohol hangover.  No kidding…don’t just believe me… Maxim Magazine -Aug 2003, Southwest Airlines Spirit Jan 2004, US Patent 6,824,798, and the many loyal customers we’ve had over the last 8 years continue to validate LiverGARD.  They just know it under our original name, First Call.  Stay warm, have a brandy, and add LiverGARD to your daily plan in order to keep your internal environment clean.  All the best, NBPI

Talking to the trees…

9 01 2009

When was the last time you went to the doctor and he advised you to ‘talk to the trees’?  It’s probably not often…certainly not often enough.  Sage advice though and something we ought to take more seriously.  What else is so alive yet has to stay in place year after year after year?  Patience, grace, fortitude, and peace are all exhibited by these living sentinels while in the midst of our daily chaos.  Look at our world today and you can see the meltdown, the lack of patience, the greed, the need for more, the need to keep up, the lack of peace.  This is just the external impact…what’s happening inside the body?  The chaos is just as extreme, poor nutrition, poor sleep, worry about money, worry about family, worry about the next day, and just plain worry.  Whatever the chaos, it impacts you severely and this impact puts your body in distress.  Fortunately, some of us have been fortunate to have been introduced to supplements and nutrition to help balance the negative impact of our world and lifestyle.  One of those positive choices is LiverGARD.  Our body is a complex organism under the influence of hormones that regulate our body and allow it to operate and work to live in the environment that it is placed.  As we feed our body (whether good or bad) we need to eliminate the really bad stuff.   Since we have a liver, amongst other organs, we’re amazingly able to handle so many daily toxins both external and internal, but the onslaught truly takes a toll and as we get older, our livers could use a bit of support.  Visit us at www. livergard.com and begin the process of helping your body sort out this chaos.  I think you’ll find that dealing with the external variables becomes easier when the internal processes are in sync.   Anyway, it’s time for me to go outside and talk to the redwood next door.  The good news is that I’m ready to listen as well……Peace be with all of you….Natural Bridges Products, Inc.

another perspective on the liver…

22 12 2008
It seems as if from the beginning of time people have known of the importance of the liver to health and well being. Some primitive cultures believed their liver was the center of their individual universe. While we modern folks may have forgotten, refined and/or reorganized our thinking on such matters, we cannot ignore the fact their beliefs demonstrate these cultures had an intuitive grasp of the sciences, from anatomical functions to relativity.

Modern medical science has proven that the liver is the center from where our individual health and sense of well being flows. From maintaining body heat, to filtering and cleansing toxins from our system, the liver holds our physical being in balance. We all increasingly take steps to limit our intake of toxins from our environment, by limiting our diets, filtering our water, and the like, but what about the toxins from the world around us that are impossible to limit. Things like the outgassing of paint, plastics, and petroleum products in general. Even Mother Nature dishes out her share of toxins. The Smoky Mountains are smoky because of the turpentine baked out of the pines which line the slopes. There are so many other naturally occurring toxins we don’t have the time to mention them. Fortunately nature has also provided us with a way help the liver to clean these toxins, and that is LiverGARD. As in times before the pharmaceutical companies decided profit was more important than performance and efficacy, the solutions of healing had to come from nature. Visit our site, www.livergard.com and come back to nature and give your body food to help clean up your insides...

OK OK I get it…

19 12 2008

I wake up today and think back 20 some years ago.  All because of the Facebook page I set up yesterday.  It’s crazy….

Anyway, it’s these folks I’m inspired to help.  It’s their health I care about.  Their friends and their friends.  The world just got even smaller; and I see the face of change in a whole new light.  Those who have known me over the past 10 years or so know that I’m committed to changing this world, especially in the face of health and business.   I could lament the negative things that have happened as we attempt to overcome a ‘me’ culture of $$ and look to provide ‘we’ solutions, but I won’t.  Just know this, our products work, they do what they say they will do, they are safe, and we won’t produce, sell, market, anything that we don’t use ourselves.  Thanks in advance for your trust….

This holiday season, make LiverGARD your choice to help protect your health.  If you are celebrating, make sure not to lose the next day…for your kids, for your families, for your friends, for YOU.   www.livergard.com      this site is a work in progress over the  next few months.  The key thing is that you can order product.  Call if you need to.  800.820.7533

Toxins indoors

17 12 2008

Hello again from Natural Bridges,

We were just talking about being indoors today.   Whether at the office or at home, we’re inside a bunch more right now with the cold weather.  Just like being outside, we’re exposed to toxins.   Recycled, drier air from the heater, lint, dander, ash from the fireplace; all of these impacting your internal environment.  Couple in the smog and smoke from burning fireplaces on the outside and the body is even more impacted.  LiverGARD is the perfect nutritional supplement to help keep the body clean on the inside.  Here’s a link to NPR and some other information on indoors toxins…
